I grew up in what’s weirdly referred to as the Midwest – Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska – and then spent some years in Michigan.

In these paintings, I’m seeking to abstract my sense of what the native plants on the plains have in common with the trees in the northern forests; some common ground between the seeming dissimilarities.

Generally contrasted against a strikingly dissimilar background.
